Stay tuned for further announcements to come!

The very first book under the Brack and Brine imprint, Labrador Cinema will be launched at the Big Land Film Festival hosted by the Lawrence O’Brien Arts Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador, on October 1, with copies on sale at a special discount. Thereafter the book will be available directly from us at Brack and Brine, while the first run lasts: email morgen@brackandbrine.com.

Labrador Cinema celebrates the many film subjects and filmmakers who have together created Labrador’s amazing, 120-year cinematic history. To do justice to their legacy, we’ve striven for maximum visual impact with an original, curated collection of 88 rare historical photographs and enlargements from film and video, many of which have never before been published in any form. The images are arranged by decade with contextual introductions informed by a combined 25 years of experience with the cinema and its archive. The emphasis on visual experience continues with professional design by some of our province’s leading creative talent, with layout by Graham Blair and cover by Perfect Day.

Making this book has meant connecting with filmmakers, archives, and community knowledge holders throughout Labrador, across multiple cultures, and in several countries on two continents. We hope the results are as enjoyable and as informative for you readers as they have been for us.
