Chris Buckley’s In the Shadow of Tungusuak has picked up a Silver INDIES Award in the category of Adventure, Sports and Recreation! The book is also the subject of a recent radio interview on CBC’s On the Go, which is available for online listening here. Update: the story was picked up by the national CBC show The Story From Here. The link above now points to an extended version of the interview, as it was aired nationally.
CBC radio producer Francesca Swann spoke with Brendan Buckley, Chris’s brother and hiking partner in the Torngat Mountains. Brendan is the book’s second main character. Their brotherly relationship is one of the memoir’s central themes.
Check out the interview to hear fascinating first-hand insights and reminiscences about the book, its author, and the experiences they relate. You can also order your own copy of the book now, to find out first-hand what all the buzz is about!

The INDIES Awards are intended to honour “the very best of indie publishing each year.” They are awarded through a program of Foreword Magazine, a US-based publication dedicated reviewing books published outside of the largest publishing houses.
