We were excited to kick off the Words of Warmth Literary Festival here in Happy Valley-Goose Bay yesterday! The festival’s first event was the much-anticipated Audiobooks Launch Party at Them Days, courtesy of Aimee Chaulk, Alexa Nicolle, and many others. We are also especially proud that the Festival will showcase two of our very own authors. Robin McGrath will lead a workshop tonight on Reading Labrador, and Jamie Jackman will lead a songwriting workshop on Monday, June 17.
Morgen is a member of the organizing committee and has been busy promoting the festival, both on social media and on Labrador Morning, CBC’s local radio station, including an interview earlier this week with John Gaudi and a May 15 interview with Rhivu Rashid. (Both are linked as podcasts.)
Funding comes from ArtsNL and the Year of the Arts program through a grant to the Eastern Labrador Arts Alliance, who run the Lawrence O’Brien Arts Centre. Many thanks to them for enabling us to make this festival happen!
